It was surely a very nice stay by the service during our stay. Clean, small hotel, we loved newly decorated and good-sized rooms and outstandingly accommodating staff. The restaurant was nice which was fantastic with hot food here, we had hot dishes.

Location in Left Bank excellent, close to Notre Dame, Isle St. Louis, the Louvre, Jardins de Luxembourg and des Plantes, etc. The hotel and room was tastefully decorated in what we imagined to be classical French Country style. While the room was small there was enough room to move around and store stuff. Staff was friendly and helpful. All in all we enjoyed our stay tremendously. And the room, was not too expensive.

I like boutique size hotels. Also this location was very convenient to everything. Taxi station and metro are within one block! Most destinations can be reached walking in less than 10-15min. I highly recommend it!

A Cozy Escape in Paris
Waking up each morning to the aroma of fresh croissants was a delight. The staff were super friendly, and the spa amenities made unwinding after long days irresistible.
The telephone in the room did not function properly, frustrating to reach out to reception for assistance. It was a minor issue, but slightly inconvenient.

The staff was very friendly and accomodating to my lousy French. The hotel has interesting interior architecture and is well decorated. The location is superb. It is one block away from Maubert-Mutualite Metro station (North). One and a half blocks to the Pantheon (South) and a 10 min walk from Notre Dame. It is close to the Sorbonne so there are a lot of nearby cafes and restauants that cater to locals. The room was very comfortable and clean. The Italian restaurant right across the street is great. There was a scale in the bathroom (a bit of torture for my wife) which came in handy when weighing the luggage bags before we left. There is a small lift/elevator that reaches 5 of the 6 floors. We stayed on the 5th in room 22 facing the street. There is an in room safe but it will not accomodate a laptop unless it's an iPad mini or a Kindle which we used with the WiFi.
The bathroom is very nice and has a bathtub.. If you are used to showers, you can cause a bit of a splash as there is no curtain. There is noise from adjacent rooms and occasionally from the street. You can hear a normal conversation from the neighboring room or the TV, and, of course, the amorous activity next door. The breakfast is in a beautiful room but was so-so in variety and taste, and for 14 euros each, we preferred to walk west one block to the brasserie/boulangerie on the same street (Rue des Ecoles) and have our choice of breakfast for less.

It was clean, smart and nicely decorated in a French style. The service was unobtrusive but extremely good. We enjoyed staying at the hotel

Charming room decor feels straight out of a Parisian dream with unique touches that really create a nice atmosphere. The location is perfect-just a short walk to the Pantheon and all the must-see spots, ideal for anyone wanting to soak in the city's history.
Rooms are a bit cramped, so anyone who values space might feel like they're in a college dorm instead of a hotel. Some features listed, like a balcony, seem misleading or only available if you're lucky, which can be frustrating who expect what's advertised. Plus, the water pressure in the shower fluctuates, which can be annoying when you're trying to clean up after a long day.

The proximity to the metro and that it was a small, local hotel.
I wish the bathroom had face cloths instead of just hand towels and bath towels. I used half of the hand towel as a face cloth.

Location, location, location........ Staff was great.
Pretty worn...... There was a broken fold out in the room that was supposed to be a chair. We were in room 22, they need to put up a shower curtain and a hook for handheld......

Consider asking for a room on a lower floor to avoid the stairs and enjoy quick access to the breakfast area.

The Hotel Saint Jacques is unique in that it is very "french" and in the heart of the Latin Quarter very close to Notre Dame and many wonderful restaurants. It is over 100 years old and the film "Charade" with Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant was shot there. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone who wanted a french experience. Very lovely decorated!

The St Jacques is a charming, small Left Bank hotel. It has effective air-conditioning, which was put to the test by a heat wave during our stay of 4 days, & it passed with flying colors. We were there in Aug 2012, so traffic was much reduced, as it is every August while Parisians are on vacation, so we had no traffic noise. But the windows seemed very secure & heavy, so perhaps they were responsible for the low level of outside noise. The inside noise level was one of peace & quiet during the hours of sleep. The decoration of the hotel is a masterpiece. Faux stone & marble walls were combined with scenic murals. The breakfast room in the basement is a cheerful boite-de-nuit, with a Toulouse-Lautrec mural surrounded by velvet drapes, making it look like a little theater, with a piano, an old grammophone, & sound system with traditional chanteuse/chanteur music that can't be found anymore in Paris, except in record stores. The breakfast waitress is a charming woman who brings the fresh, delicious orange juice, the excellent bread, rolls, & butter and also cooks the eggs (a reasonable extra charge) to order. There is a small lift, which works well. The location is a few blocks from the Seine & Notre Dame & about equidistant from the Pantheon & Jardin de Luxembourg, as well as close to the Boulevards of St Michel & St Germain, the Cluny museum, the Sorbonne, the College de France, & l'Ecole de Medicine, as well as the wonderful Gibert bookstore, etc. Our room let out onto a long balcony with views of Notre Dame & the Pantheon! Our children & grandchildren occupied a comfortable 4-person room. The rooms are not large, but they are thoughtfully arranged & comfortable. The decor in the rooms varies, but is generally pleasantly old-fashioned.

The room upgrade in October with a small balcony was good for evening relaxation. The spa area was a wonderful surprise that enhanced our stay experience.
